July 4, 2025 –
Fourth of July Fireworks:
“Since 2009, the Friends of Barren River Lake & Park has been the sole conduit through which funding is provided for the popular 4th of July fireworks show over the water at Barren River Lake. This event is attended by thousands of people every year on land, as well as on water. Without the fundraising efforts of FOBRLP, this event would not be possible.”
August 2, 2025 –
POKER RUN on The Barren and BEACH FEST
“This family-friendly event is not a race against the clock, but rather an opportunity to enjoy the day out on Barren River Lake while collecting your ‘hand’ at various checkpoints. In addition to being lots of FUN, this is an important fundraising event, which helps support the group’s environmental and recreational programs.”
September 20, 2025 –
Lakeshore Cleanup:
“Since 1992, the FOBRLP has brought thousands of volunteers to the shores of Barren River Lake for the annual Lakeshore Cleanup. During that time, over 15,000 volunteers have removed 287 tons of trash from Barren River Lake. Held the third Saturday of September, this event promotes environmental stewardship for volunteers of all ages.”
Other Events
Wounded Warrior Fishing Event – This very important event is coordinated in conjunction with the local Old Timer’s Fishing club and the national Wounded Warrior Project.
Scout Celebration – Scouts from all across the area come to this event held each August at the Tailwater Campground to compete for the “Jigger,” given to the scout group who shows the most scout spirit.
Bailey’s Point Boo Bash & State Park Spookout – Held each October for campers in their respective campgrounds, these events bring Halloween to Barren River Lake with several fun activities such as pumpkin carving contests and site decorating.
